Welcome

Knowledge organisation and management is essential for any enterprise to create, manage, and retrieve content effectively, and text analytics is the principal component of this process.

Text Analytics (TA) is the process of drawing meaning out of written communication. Also referred to often as text data mining, TA is the process of deriving high-quality information from text, typically through devising patterns and trends using means such as natural language processing, entity/relation identification and modelling, statistical pattern recognition and machine learning.

Knowledge and the way it is managed is a key success factor for organisations in the current dynamic environment. Knowledge Organization (KO) is the classification and categorisation of knowledge for navigation, storage, maintenance and retrieval. As a field of study, KO is concerned with the nature and quality of the knowledge organizing processes as well as the knowledge organizing systems used to organize documents, document representations and concepts.

The Text Analytics & Knowledge Organisation (TAKO) Research Group is a young and leading research group at UL specialised in Text Analytics, Knowledge Organisation and the ever-growing field of Big Data Analytics.
